About the Roanoke Valley
We've heard it said that the Roanoke Valley has “a little bit of everything, but not too much of anything.” There's probably no better description of this great place to live!
Location
The Roanoke Valley is located in southwest Virginia, within 500 miles of many of the major business, economic, and population regions of the United States.
Star City of the South
Built in 1949 and visible from just about every part of the Valley is this spendidly illuminated, 100 foot-tall Star situated on the top of Mill Mountain. Indians wandering between the parallel ridges of the Allegheny Mountains named their great valley Shenandoah, "daughter of the stars." Roanoke is known as the "Star City of the South".

- Town of Vinton
